Blacktown is the main town centre for the whole area, and it feels like it. Westpoint Blacktown, one of the biggest shopping centres in western Sydney, sits right next to Blacktown railway station, which fronts Main Street, and the station itself is a major stop on the T1 North Shore & Western Line with a busy bus interchange alongside it. A short walk from the station, Blacktown Showground gives the town centre a proper community green space.

Housing around Blacktown is genuinely mixed in age. There are still whole streets of older brick and fibro homes from the suburb’s big growth years, especially further out from the centre, but close to the station and along the main shopping strip, recent years have brought more townhouses and unit blocks as those older blocks get redeveloped.
