Winston Hills sits on hilly ground between Toongabbie Creek and the ridge along Windsor Road, and the street names reflect its history. Much of the suburb was laid out and named after British prime ministers as it was developed, so you’ll find Churchill Drive, Disraeli Road, Asquith Avenue and Attlee Place within a few blocks of each other. Most homes are brick, built through the 1960s and 70s on the sloping blocks that give the suburb its hills, with retaining walls and split-level floor plans common on the steeper streets.
The local shopping centre is Winston Hills Mall on Caroline Chisholm Drive, anchored by Woolworths, Coles, Big W and Aldi. Caroline Chisholm Drive is the suburb’s main through road, linking Windsor Road and Old Windsor Road. For green space, Third Settlement Reserve follows Toongabbie Creek with a shaded playground and a walking track, and Barnett Park on Barnetts Road is a popular off-leash dog area.
Winston Hills is split between City of Parramatta and The Hills Shire, so the right council depends on your exact street. A bin on your own property doesn’t need approval. On the footpath, nature strip or road, your council requires a permit first. Tell us your address at booking and we’ll confirm which council covers you and walk you through the permit.
