Lalor Park was built by the NSW Housing Commission from 1959, carved out of old poultry farms and orchards on the strip of land between Seven Hills and Blacktown. Its streets carry the names of well known Australians, a naming pattern left over from that original estate. Local shops sit at the junction of Northcott Road and Freeman Street, and right on that same corner is Chifley Park, named after former prime minister Ben Chifley, home to the Lalor Park Library, the community garden and the Lalor Park Skate Park.

Most of the suburb is still the original single-storey brick housing from the 1960s and 70s, sitting on the generous blocks that came standard with the old Housing Commission estate. We see a steady run of cottage renovations and garden clean-ups as those homes change hands, plus a growing number of granny flat builds as first-home buyers move in.
